This stunning French Long Guard chain dates to the late 19th Century, in the Belle Epoque period, 1871 – 1914. It is crafted from solid 18ct gold, and showcases the classical design features of this wonderful era. The fact it is still around, and in such perfect condition is testament to the crafmanship of the time.
The gold links lie flat around the neck when worn and pick up the sunlight to allow the gold to shimmer and glint in a delightful fashion. The very good sized bolt ring clasp, in full working order, allows a pendant/locket or charm to be attached, adding to the flexibility of this chain's wear options.
At 49 inches, (124cm) it can be worn wrapped once or twice around the neck, or many times around the wrist to create a fancy link wrist stack. It is not marked, but has been tested for solid 18ct Gold and it weighs a substantial 24.33g.
It is incredibly difficult to find original long guard chains like this now, and in their original length. This is a dream investment piece, and one that will last many more lifetimes.
